Sid Ponnala is a Ph.D. Student in Human Factors Engineering, minoring in mixed methods. He is interested in studying patient and caregiver workflows in informal care settings, and designing assistive technology for their respective needs.
Prior to matriculating at the University of Wisconsin, Sid received his master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he worked with Dr. Nathan Lau on cognitive engineering projects in healthcare. Sid has also previously worked at Unilever as a Research and Development specialist and carries a strong background in Human Subjects research.Sid attended the University of Illinois for his bachelor's degree in Psychology and Integrative Biology. At Illinois, he worked on several cognitive psychology and neuroscience projects with Dr. Art Kramer at the Beckman Institute.
After graduation, Sid aims to work in industry as a Human Factors Consultant after graduation. Sid hopes to draw from cognitive engineering principles and sociotechnical systems frameworks to build finer healthcare systems and create more intuitive designs.
In his free time, Sid enjoys playing tennis, as well trying out new food and music. Sid is also passionate about traveling, and new technology.
